Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Property Forum

The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted its latest Property Forum event, bringing together interested parties from across the region to hear from expert speakers in construction, planning and finance. The aim of the Property Forum, held at the firm of solicitors, Boyes Turner’s offices in Reading, was to provide a rounded picture of the issues affecting the property market in its broadest sense.

Bill Gornall-King, a Partner at Boyes Turner, opened the meeting and introduced the event to the full room of guests before the four speakers of the evening began their presentations.

Graeme Bone, an Independent Financial Adviser and Director of Beaufort Financial, led the presentations, discussing the way in which the recent changes to pension rules have altered the best way for clients to hold commercial property in a tax efficient way. Graeme explained that good financial advisers are now starting to wake up to the ‘new normal’ and this is an area that will potentially save their clients many hundreds of thousands, or even millions of pounds in unnecessary taxation.

Nigel Ozier, Managing Director at Aitchison Raffety; James York, Area Director at Morgan Sindall; and James Nelson, Associate Solicitor at Blaser Mills all also presented at the Property Forum before a Q&A session was opened to the floor.
